How do I build a call list for a specific area code or ZIP?

Use Contacts filters to build a geographic calling list, then save the matching contacts as a List.

Filter around a ZIP code

  1. Open Filter and choose Narrow records.

  2. Open the field picker and choose Zip under Addresses.

  3. Enter the distance in Within ___ miles of... and the ZIP in Zip Code.

  4. Review the returned contacts and their addresses before saving.

The current Zip control is a geographic radius around the ZIP location. It is not an exact ZIP-code or contains match; nearby ZIPs may also be included. A one-mile radius does not mean every address inside that postal ZIP is included.

Filter by phone area code

  1. Open Filter → Narrow records.

  2. Choose Phone Number.

  3. Select begins with and enter the three-digit prefix, such as 202.

  4. Check the matching phone numbers. If results differ from expectations, inspect the stored number on a contact profile.

This filters a number prefix, not the person's current location. A person can keep a phone number after moving. For the normalized US numbers in this workflow, enter the area code without a leading country code.

Combine geography with other criteria

The address category also offers City, State, and Timezone. Use Narrow records to restrict an existing result, Add records to broaden it, and Remove records to exclude matches.

When combining fields from different categories, add another filter step through Filter. The plus button for related rules stays within the first rule's category. For example, narrow by a contact name first, then add a separate Narrow step for Zip.

Save a static list

  1. Check that the table includes the contacts you want and excludes the contacts you do not want.

  2. Select Save As and enter a name.

  3. Select List for a static snapshot, choose visibility and sorting as needed, and select Save.

  4. Reload the saved list and check its members before using it for calling.

A List keeps the selected set. A Saved search stores the filter and recalculates as contacts change. Use the static List when your calling workflow needs a fixed set.
